Carthage Busted Arrest Routes
Carthage sits in Rush County with 918 residents, per the 2020 Census, making it the county's second-largest incorporated place. The town itself offers no online arrest log, records form, or law-enforcement page. Commercial directories may list old agency contacts, but a stale listing proves nothing about who handled a recent incident.
Start with the arresting agency. Town Hall can confirm whether a marshal handled a specific event, while the Rush County Sheriff's Office is the practical contact for any arrest that entered Rush County detention. The Rush County Jail creates and keeps the county booking material when it accepts someone. Not every encounter ends in a booking, though. A citation, a release, a transfer, or an arrest by another agency can send the record down a different path.
Where Carthage Busted Mugshots Appear
Carthage has no official photo feed. Official records come first, ahead of news reports and private sites. Each channel below covers a different stage of custody. One dead end does not mean no arrest happened.
| Channel | Photo status | Role and access |
|---|---|---|
| Rush County Sheriff/Jail | Request the specific image | Official county booking custodian; call or make an APRA request. |
| Indiana SAVIN | No | Official custody status and release or transfer notifications. |
| Indiana MyCase | Usually no booking photo | Official public court docket for filed charges and disposition. |
| Rushville Recorder | Report previews are generally text | Local news with recurring RCSO-provided county arrest reports. |
| Recently Booked / Busted Newspaper | Often | Unofficial county aggregators that may be incomplete or stale. |
| Mugshots.com | Inconsistent | Unofficial and a poor current source; only old Rush County entries were seen. |
Publication is not proof. The table makes that plain. The Recorder can list a name, booking date, charge, and bond without ever showing a face. A private page can show a photo yet skip a later dismissal. Want a photo tied to one person? Ask the sheriff for the retained booking file, then check the court outcome.
Carthage Arrest Lookup Steps
A good search starts small. Gather the person's full name, the incident date, and the Carthage location. Add the arresting officer or agency if known. Those details help the records custodian tell a booking apart from an incident report or a simple citation.
- Confirm who handled the incident. Ask Carthage Town Hall when the local agency is unclear, or contact the Rush County Sheriff for a county event.
- Call the Sheriff/Jail at 765-932-2931. Ask whether the person entered Rush County custody and request the mandatory arrest and jail facts.
- Request the booking photograph by name. Indiana’s mandatory fact list does not expressly include the image, so identify it separately.
- Use Indiana SAVIN for current custody notifications. It is not a photo or court search.
- Search Indiana MyCase for a filed Rush County case and its disposition.
Timing matters. Indiana Code 5-14-3-5 requires listed arrest and jail facts to be created within 24 hours. But that law does not force a public web feed. Someone released from custody may vanish from a current-custody check the same day. The retained booking record and the court case live on in separate systems.
Carthage Booking Records Requests
No verified Carthage records form exists. Skip any address pulled from an old commercial directory, since it may reach a defunct office. For a Rush County jail booking, write to the Rush County Sheriff's Office. Say the request is made under Indiana's Access to Public Records Act. Name the record you want and keep the description tight.
Rush County Sheriff’s Office
131 East First Street
Rushville, IN 46173
Phone: 765-932-2931
Fax: 765-932-2467
Ask for the arrest entry, jail entry, and booking photograph for the named person and date, and include the Carthage incident location and agency when known. No fixed sheriff fee, photo policy, response time, or record retention rule has been published. Request an estimate before copies are made, and ask for the legal basis if anything gets withheld. The sheriff's official page is the best verified contact point. The matching county source is shown in this captured view.

No Carthage Busted Feed
The missing town feed is a real local fact. No daily arrest list exists. No 24-hour photo page either. There is no fixed set of fields, no archive, nothing to point to. That does not make Carthage arrests secret, though. Indiana law opens certain arrest and jail information to inspection and copying, even when the county never posts it online.
Rush County posts no verified sheriff roster or recent-bookings page on its site. A third-party search route covered elsewhere was never authenticated by a link from the sheriff. Never treat an unaffiliated search shell as the official county roster. Call the jail with a narrow request instead. That remains the sound fallback for both current and released people.
Note: The sheriff’s mobile app advertises tips, crime reports, news, weather, and emergency outreach, not inmate or mugshot lookup.
Carthage Busted Arrest Reports
Start with the Rushville Recorder news section. Its "Arrest Report" columns run roughly once a week. They are often credited to the sheriff's office. Each one lists names, booking dates, charges, and bond amounts pulled from the county jail. There is no fixed publication day. Previews rarely include booking photos, and the coverage spans all of Rush County rather than a Carthage-only blotter.
Private sites fill some gaps but deserve caution. Recently Booked shows a rolling 30-day window that refreshes several times a day. Busted Newspaper has indexed Rush County entries. Its county route comes and goes, though. Mugshots.com offers a Carthage filter, but its Rush County page held just two stale listings. Treat all of them as unofficial leads. None answers how a charge resolved.
To trace a name from a news item to the sheriff's record and then the court file, see the Rush County crime news overview. News publication and actual custody are two different questions.
Carthage Booking Status Changes
Where a person sits in the system decides which tool works. A fresh booking can be confirmed by calling the jail. Nothing online is required. Someone still held can be tracked through SAVIN alerts. Once released, the live custody signal goes away. The sheriff may keep the booking file on hand anyway. If the prosecutor files charges, MyCase shows the chronological case summary, called the CCS, along with the eventual outcome.
| Status | Best Rush County path | What it answers |
|---|---|---|
| Incident or citation | Arresting agency | Report facts; may involve no jail intake. |
| Just booked or held | Sheriff/Jail and SAVIN | Custody and required jail facts. |
| Released | Sheriff records request | Retained booking entry and requested photo. |
| Case filed | MyCase and court clerk | Charges, hearings, and disposition. |
| Sentenced to state custody | IDOC offender locator | State correctional status, not county booking photos. |
The Indiana Department of Correction locator does not display offender photographs. It serves sentenced state custody, not ordinary Carthage arrests. Federal and immigration custody use separate federal locators, which should be checked only when the arresting or holding agency points outside Rush County.
Keep the original spelling of the name and note aliases only when an official record supplies them. If MyCase returns several cases, compare the court, filing date, and case details rather than choosing the first result. The maintaining clerk is the source for an official or certified court record. A docket entry can show that a charge was amended or dismissed, while a booking page may continue to show only the first accusation.
Historic Carthage Arrest Records
Carthage history lives in an odd place. It will not help with a modern custody search. The Rushville Public Library Indiana Room keeps Carthage Citizen microfilm covering 1907 through 1967. Those reels may capture an old arrest, court event, or local news report. They cannot confirm a booking photo was ever made or saved.
An old search starts with a name, a rough year, and the system that held the person. Jail records, newspapers, court files, and state prison archives are separate collections. Indiana Archives and Records Administration holdings may include photos of sentenced state prisoners. News microfilm offers text only. The Rush County Historical Society makes referrals but claims no mugshot archive.
Keep the collections straight. An old news item shows what was printed, nothing more. Follow the court record where one exists. Library staff can pinpoint an issue once you have a date. The court clerk identifies the case file with the legal outcome.
